Valerie Kong
Before moving to the US at age 14, my mother taught me bow pose as a part of my childhood bedtime routine in our small urban flat in Hong Kong. But it was not until over a decade later when I was juggling a hectic schedule of a demanding full-time job in clinical research while studying for my MPH in Boston did I take my first vinyasa yoga class at a corporate gym. Yoga brought me a sense of mental clarity which enabled me to restore balance in my daily hustle. I began practicing at Back Bay Yoga (where Hip Hop Yoga originated) under Jess Ray, Lynne Begier and Goldie Graham in 2007. After moving to San Francisco in Fall of 2018, I completed my 200-Hour Vinyasa YTT in Bali through YogaKoh. My offerings are primarily outdoor/virtual alignment-based flows with the goal of reconnecting our mind, body and nature, and feeling recharged and grounded as a result.
